MAMMA ADA AWARD (MAA)
GUIDELINES FOR MAA

History: Dr. Roberto Marcori of Florence, Italy has established the “Ada Cullino Marcori Florence Prize” in mem- ory of his adorable mother Ada Cullino Marcori, who passed away on April 1st 2014. The prize is meant for young and deserving persons having dealt with Florence related issues, be it the history, the reality or the future of this beautiful and historic city. During the second edition ceremony of the prize held on the second anniversary day (01- 04-2016) of his beloved mother Dr. Marcori announced the same prize for India. He declared that it will be given every year on the birth anniversary day of his great mother i.e. 4th February, starting from 04-02-2017.

Significance of MAA: The MAA is to recognize excellence in academic research, student empowerment, teaching and cultural contributions in the district of Kanyakumari, located in the southern tip of India. Award winners are regarded as role models and leaders, so it is important that the award selection process recognize the achievements of such personalities.

 

Award Nomination: The key to a well-written nomination is providing the evaluators with specific information illustrating how the nominee’s achievements have had a positive impact in the district of Kanyakumari. Start with a clear, direct, and specific statement of why the nominee deserves recognition. Support the opening statement with specific examples that address the award criteria and elaborate on why the nominee’s accomplishments are worthy of the award. These examples should include outcomes, results, and/or activities ‘above and beyond’ the nominee’s job description. Include qualities that make this person outstanding, and that are clearly relevant to the award crite- ria (eg, contribution, team-building, collaboration, initiative, and leadership).

  • Any challenges or issues encountered and overcome

 

How did she/he do it?

  • Initiative and/or leadership
  • Creativity and/or innovation
  • Teamwork

  • What did the nominee’s efforts accomplish?
  • Are there specific benefits that our district has received from those efforts?

 

Avoid Conflict of Interest: Committee members should not nominate themselves for an award.

The Award Value: The value of the award is Euros 3,000.00 (Three Thousand) and it can be shared by three to five winners.
